The work Touch (2018) examines photography as a means of understanding things – oneself, others, and one’s own environment. Screens, reflective surfaces and such associated with digital technology, the mirrored reflection of subjects, as well as windows and cutouts in various forms, all point to the abstraction involved in the making of photographic images. In this way, the work addresses the discrepancy with reality inherent in the medium despite its claim to represent reality. The title alludes to how the photographic image, like a virtual skin, interposes itself between us and the world.
