The photographic objects in the installation Es lo que hay (2017) are based on reproductions of household textiles. They evoke the fundamental activities that transform a place into a home: sleeping and eating. Small glass panels stand on the floor, leaning against the wall. The windows of the exhibition space are reflected in them, creating a connection to the outside world. The work addresses the oscillation between inside and outside, between home and the world. The title Es lo que hay (That’s just the way it is) is a Spanish expression used when one must make do with what is currently available. Like the object made of beech wood slats and an ink jet print shaped with water it refers to improvisation and makeshift solutions, such as those encountered after a move or while traveling.
